Project MiniMe: Entry 0009

February 8, 2008

Week 29 and all is fine.

  • MiniMe’s head is in proportion with his body now. He appears more like a newborn each and every day!
  • Fat continues to accumulate under MiniMe’s skin — only now preparing for entering the *real world*.
  • MiniMe’s brain can control primitive breathing and body temperatures.
  • His eyes can move in their sockets. Soon he will be able to follow a blinking light.
  • MiniMe is increasingly sensitive to changes in light, sound, taste, and smell! Various studies show that he may indicate preferences (or disdain) for particular tastes or odors at this stage
  • He is also moving from side to side, but probably still is head up. In the next few weeks, he will move to the head down birthing position. At times Synn may feel as if he is performing somersaults for a circus act!
  • MiniMe is now approximately 38.6cm in length and weighs about 1.1kg.
  • Which reminds me, last Sunday morning, while still in bed with Synn, she quickly took my hand and put it over MiniMe. Suddenly, there was an extremely strong movement within her tummy. MiniMe was moving! And he was moving with such a force that it left me amazed.

It was almost as if he were really turning around inside Synn’s tummy! I thought it might have been his feet or elbow that moved maybe about an inch across the width of her tummy!

I also realise MiniMe might be running on US timing, because he’s super inactive during the day, but Synn says he can’t seem to stop moving at night. So this week, what I’ve been doing is to play with MiniMe for a couple of minutes before we go to sleep.

I’ll tap Synn’s tummy and MiniMe would tap back, then I’d tap another area of Synn’s tummy and MiniMe would respond the same way. So back and forth father and son would go till one of us tires of the game, hehe.

    So exciting!

    Clan Phua Hanging Out

    February 8, 2008

Clan Phua spent the first day of the Lunar New Year together visiting the ashes of our grandparents at the temple and having lunch at the airport.

Qi and Ah Boi were decked out in red and they looked so delicious Synn and I absolutely had to take a picture with them!

Ah Boi looks like a little auspicious gongfu master, while Qi seems a little taller everytime I see her.

Post-lunch activities at MacDonald’s with the rugrats:

And of course, who could resist the ice cream cones:

Days like these are just perfect.

I sometimes wonder how MiniMe will take to his cousins. Hee hee…
