Project MiniMe: Entry 0017

April 1, 2008

Week 37 and all is fine.

  • This week, MiniMe’s average size is about 2859gm and 48.6cm in length.
  • He is officially full term now but can still benefit from extra days in the womb.
  • MiniMe continues to practice breathing movements. Isn’t it amazing how he can breathe “under water?”
  • Grasp is firm now. It won’t be long until we’ll feel that strong little fist confidently grasping your finger (or tightly clenching your hair)!
  • A few weeks ago, MiniMe would move his eyes toward light. Now he turns towards light outside the uterus.
  • As the uterine wall stretches and thins allowing more light to permeate, he develops definite daily activity cycles. We will want to be sure to establish good patterns at this time, thus encouraging them in MiniMe. Ever heard of a baby getting his days/nights mixed up? Now’s the time to try to avoid that!
  • Recently, MiniMe’s been hiccuping often enough for Synn and I to be amused. We feel it as a regular throbbing on Synn’s tummy, too light to be a kick, but too regular to be him doing anything voluntary. They usually come 2-3 seconds apart, and it amuses us to no end, hehe.

In other news, I had a backbreaking weekend setting up MiniMe’s cot next to our bed in the room. Synn and I also went to get MiniMe’s mattress, the cot’s bumper pad and sheets. Chucked everything into the wash ASAP, so no pictures yet. Soon, though.

We’ve also got everything packed and dumped in the car for the day I get the mobilisation alert, heh heh.

Not much longer now till we meet MiniMe.
