New Ironman Movie Trailer!

February 29, 2008

Woah.

Looks pretty damn awesome. I don’t really consider myself an Ironman fan, but dammit, the trailers so far look pretty sweet.

Watch it here!!!

Project MiniMe: Entry 0010

February 24, 2008

Week 32 and all is fine.

  • MiniMe is about 1702g now and about 42.4cm long.
  • Minime’s still moving around like a little boy on steroids and responds to environmental sounds, especially when we’re watching a movie!
  • All five senses are working. MiniMe is fascinated and practicing testing these out as much as possible!
  • Toenails are completely formed even though he may not be quite ready for a French manicure.
  • Hair on MiniMe’s head continues to grow in.
  • Brain scans have shown that babies have periods of dream sleep (REM) starting around the eight month.
  • I wonder what MiniMe could be dreaming about, hehe…

During our last visit to the gynae, his scans showed that MiniMe had already shifted to the engaged position, ie, head down, legs up. Hopefully he stays that way till he’s ready to meet Synn and me.

In any case, his kicks still seem to be limited to the upper portion of Synn’s tummy, heh.

    Blu-Ray Wins Format War!

    February 19, 2008

I was chatting with Senior Citizen Phua over the weekend, when he mentioned that it looked like Blu-Ray was set to win the format war.

S.C. Phua: Ey…looks like Blu-Ray has won the format war.

Me: What? So fast? Can’t be!

S.C. Phua: I’ll send you the link.

    Wow.

So I googled and behold. Looks like it’s for real on Scientific American, and on T3 as well !

And since the PS3 has been rated by T3 to be a great blu-ray player, I think its shelf life has just been extended for just that much longer. ^^

    Clayburn Moore’s Wolverine

    February 17, 2008

I decided to snap some photos of this wolvie piece I bought for Synn (<— BIG FAN) for her birthday some time ago.

I totally did not expect the pictures to turn out this nice.

Even after so many years of display, the colour still seems as striking as the first day I laid eyes on this piece.

    Fantastic sculpt.

    Bowen Designs Venom

    February 15, 2008

Saw this piece at a friend’s place, and totally loved it!

I have to admit, I’d seen pictures of this guy before, but most don’t do it justice. I fell in love with it immediately when I saw it in person. The paint work is amazing, and the sheen he has under flourescent light is very pretty.

One thing that stood out was the amazing detail of the teeth and tongue. Most other sculpts exaggerate the lower jaw and tongue, which turns me off, but this sculpt does it nicely without over exaggerating the features.

The question now is: Should I or shouldn’t I…hehe…

    Sideshow Ironman Comiquette – FINALLY!!!

    February 15, 2008

By a stroke of luck, I was contacted by a very kind person who decided to sell me his friend’s original exclusive piece.

Why exclusive? Because it has the interchangeable head, of course:

Enjoy the rest of the pics:

This shoulder plate shows that it’s original!!

I brought this piece home at night and took it under orange light, but I’ll be updating this post with pictures taken in daylight to see how they turn out.

Unfortunately, this piece is slightly too large to go into my cabinet as well!!! Argh!!! I’m going to have to look into readjusting my cabinet height.  :P

It’s pretty minty, with a slight paint chip on the down facing fist pounding the ground, but since it’s facing down, it can’t really be seen, so I’m very happy with my acquisition. ^^

Many, MANY thanks to Derick for this. Had a very nice chat, and great meeting you!  :)

    Update:

Managed to take some pictures in the daylight today. I must say, this piece looks fantastic under white light.

Oh, and I managed to fit him into my cabinet! ^^

    Update:

Sadly though, I’m seriously considering selling this beauty off, because I’ve recently gotten addicted to Bowen, and the scale of this comiquette totally doesn’t fit with Bowen scale. I’ve got like 15 Bowen pieces and counting, and Sideshow’s Ironman sticks out like a sore thumb. (

If I don’t sell him, I don’t know how else to display him.

Any takers? Leave a comment here and I’ll get back to you with my email address so we can discuss a deal. There are some other pieces I want to clear to make space because I’ve realised they don’t fit with the theme.

    Cream Puffs

    February 12, 2008

Synn and I tried our hand at making custard puffs the other day.

The batter was easy enough to make:

    As was the custard:

However, for some irritating reason, the puff pastry kept sticking to our tray!

    before.jpg  after.jpg

    We tried paper, it stuck.

We tried using a tray without paper and grease, it stuck.

We tried greasing the tray without paper, it stuck.

    ARGHHHH.

So now we have to eat upside-down custard puffs.

Strangely enough, the custard tasted a little weird when warm, and after eating our first few, we weren’t looking forward to eating the rest. But, in the interest of not wasting food, we had some more the next day after chucking them into the fridge, and they actually didn’t taste half bad anymore.

Suffice to say, we finished the lot of them, hehe.
